Oh yeah… the toyota hilux has never been banned and was shown on programs such as Top Gear and praised for their reliability. Many hilux’s have more than 300,000 miles and are called the indestructable truck.

EMILY GO DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS…..YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT…..YOU HAVE NO SOURCE TO SUPPORT YOUR ANSWER…
NOW for the Toyota recall……….
Stop Abusing Toyota just because of a huge recall….gas pedals wear out if you constantly floor your car when you don’t really need to…..temperature and humidity can also affect it.
I understand that everyone would agree that Toyota did hide this problem and everyone would obviously accept that American cars are better.
The fact of the matter is that all car companies have to go through recalls. Toyota & Honda are definitely being attacked by the government especially LaHood. He’s constantly making a big deal about this…
First he says to stop driving toyota’s (even Obama agreed)
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/02/0…
Then He later apologies for his idiotic words….
http://www.azcentral.com/business/articl…
I do understand that Toyota has included more than a million vehicles in this recall. Honda’s wasn’t even that severe….one incident triggered the whole situation & guess who made a public announcement…..YES LAHOOD.
http://www.koco.com/news/22537819/detail…
So Tell Me American Car Lovers…..
Why didn’t the government announce the GM recall… (more than 1.5 million vehicles)
http://www.usrecallnews.com/2009/04/nhts…
Chevy recall…. (905,000 vehicles)
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2010/…
And yours truly Ford…. (more than 80,000 vehicles)
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls04…
Toyota has made over 175 recalls within the year of 2000
Ford over 250+ (not too bad, very impressing, seems I can trust them)
Chevy over 700+
GM over 1000+
And you still love American Cars????
If Government did decide to make this public………….They’re FINISHED. They have no money to make a recall…..sure they can do minor but major such as TOyota….they’re gone.
Lahood and the transportation department are deliberately keeping this quiet just for the sake of keeping American car companies alive as well as aiding the economy. Oh sure the economy is going up as American car companies gain profit…..wait till Toyota starts firing people…UNEMPLOYMENT IS OFF THE CHART!
Toyota has employed hundreds of people, imagine them without jobs if Toyota left US. If they left we would be in an instant recession.
In some cases GM, Ford, Chevy needs Toyota for competition. It is because of Toyota Honda and Nissan GM, Ford and Chevy stand this good today….otherwise they would still use same old parts from 1990’s.
Doesn’t matter if Toyota made such a huge recall…..The downfall is that pretty soon Toyota will start firing workers and unemployment rates will increase. Look at the bright side….They will lose money and the CEO will have to invest into more safer technologies to make their vehicles better….
last time I checked GM begged the government for money, they showed up in their hybrid cars to prove them that they can improve…..lets see. Because of their irresponsibility I am losing my money as taxpayer. Why should I pay for their failures when I should worry about my savings, sending kids to college, keeping a roof over my family and feeding them.
This is all a media hype by the government to convince people to buy American cars….even if you have a Toyota just take it to the dealer and have your pedals fixed…it will only take 2 hours rather than you wasting more than $18,000 on a new car….Plus Toyota dealers are seriously listening to any complaints about their vehicles from numerous customers and providing quick and fast solution.
Every American car lover is being a bit too harsh on Toyota & Japanese cars….For your information….we need Toyota for Competition….Ford, Chevy GM watched how they rose to the top and now they’re doing the same.
Japanese cars are good, American Cars are good, all cars are good….mainly its human error which can end lives not cars.

No, this is something serious and has millions of peoples lives at risk. It also shows the true quality of these foreign cars. In fact there are several Toyota models that are banned in the US, such as the Toyota Hilux.

no, the US government and the media is not making the recall bigger than it actually is. Toyota is a very dangerous and deceptive automaker.
As the person above said, Chinese car makers like Toyota will be trouble because of low quality + poor quality control. Do you remember the tainted pet food made in China? the poison found in toothpaste made over there? It’s all the same story. Do not buy from Asian brands.
BUY AMERICAN!

The whole point that most are missing is that Toyota did not try to hide any imperfections with their vehicles, as some manufacturers have in the past ( i.e. the Ford SUV’s that were rolling over and were responsible for many deaths ). The whole thing has been blown way out of proportion, and Toyota will be the "winner" in all of it due to a higher stock, and rebound of customers when the next mfgrs vehicles causes problems

Toyoyta is making the story bigger and bigger because for so many days now, they keep expanding their recalls over more car models and years. It is way passed floormats, accelerator pedals and Prius brakes. Serious concerns have been announced for Tundra,Tacoma,Camry etc We are not talking glove compartment locks not working here. Value engineering at work.

Well I seen where there is at least 30 deaths so far due to the problems so I would say it’s bad. Toyota screwed up big time with out any ones help. They need to man up and accept the blame.

All manufacturers have recalls. ford chevy have recalls on every model to date. mostly minor stuff. steering wheel lock plate, screw in window crank stripping,or such. When you get into braking, steering, or other safety areas people take notice. But media outlets do whip it up. Its in their best interest. fear sells commercial time and all media outlets are dedicated to one thing. Profit. Toyota has a problem, yes, but its rare and they have owned up to it and are making efforts to correct the problem and not pass the blame like the big 3 do. (Remember ford explorer rollovers? ford never said its our fault. Instead they blamed the tire manufacture. But who’s job is it to do adequate quality control? It was fords. If they tested their suppliers half as good as Mc Donalds does Ford would have found the defect before life’s were lost.) If Chevy would have taken a more respectable route a few years ago instead of the profit/poor quality road, people would’nt have lost confidence in them and they wouldn’t be Government Motors now. I drive a chevy but i look at the foreign models and wonder how much better off we would be if we were actually the highest quality manufactures like we claim. But its our lie I guess we can tell it how we want to. When the big 3 lay off thank God toyota, BmwMercedessHyndaii, nissan, have plants in America or else where would all those unemployed autoworkers go. Not to mention all the thousands of job related small buisness’s that depend on domestic and foreign sales. Detroit did’nt look out for them. Only the exec survived. And theirs is a plush survival. Yes Toyota made a bad part and yes people got hurt. At least Toyota said its our fault and we will get right on it. Thats more than our Gov or media would do.

now believe it or not,but the ans is YES,,toyota has 170 recalls in total, now chevy alone has 700,so i ask why not make a big deal about that?also if the gov really thought they were unsafe then why haven’t they pulled them off the road, and last lets not forget how the government bailed out gm and ford so now they want the money back,,some on this yahoo ans thing will say no,why?do they know someone that had a issue with there toyota?do they work for some company that inspects the cars?no they are only doing what most do ,listing to the media,,,,ask anyone with 1 of the cars in question if they ever had a sticking pedal, you will see the ans is no,now the floor mat issue is different, yet i think its still the driver fault as the rubber mats clearly say not to put them on top of your carpet mat and to hook them to the floor with the floor hooks the car came with, yet every one ive inspected i have to say 90% didn’t,its Always easier to blame someone else for your mistakes..i mean read the second person on top they think toyotas are made in china,so what dose that say about what they know?nothing thats why,yes there are alot of toyotas out there so of corse there will be alot of cars to fix yet(just google car recalls)no one says anything about ford recalls or gm recalls,

NO NO NO
38 have DIED… not injured…not scared… DIED!!!
What if that was your child or some one you cared about?
Then they recalled prius because of brakes!!!
Today they recalled tacomas!!!
I have a Toyota Sequioa my wife and children ride in. That bothers me.
How big of a deal would you make if some one you loved was killed, so toyota could save a few thousand dollars?

No, Toyoda made it big by cheapening the product in an attempt to take over. The Jap zero was made a lot cheaper and lighter than our planes and it almost worked.
Comment by Bo✓ on March 11, 2010 at 4:57 pm
Yes. the government is trying to bring up GM, Ford and Chrysler.
Comment by Jhunt on March 11, 2010 at 4:57 pm
since we have a black president…..everyone in the white house is listening to Gucci mane and are giving loans to everyone
They’re gonna hit hard on Toyota until all Japanese companies are dead……Bringing down European companies will be tough….
Ahhhh screw this…..why don’t we talk about Muffins instead….
Comment by Sportacus on March 11, 2010 at 4:57 pm
No they are actually telling you how it is. Toyota Made a major screw up and now they have to fix it. I think that Toyota knew about this all along and chose not to do anything until now and they are in deep trouble.
Comment by Cody on March 11, 2010 at 4:57 pm
No! In fact, the NHT-SA is now investigating whether Toyota knew about the unintended/uncontrolled acceleration problems way back in 2002 and did nothing about it. There are now 34 deaths directly attributable to this serious defect. The Japanese government " censured Toyota in 2006 for failing for eight years to disclose and act upon reports of a design flaw implicated in loss-of;control incidents ". Sound familiar? Certainly the Japanese government was not ‘picking on’ Toyota or exaggerating the problem. In fact the U.S. regulatory agencies have, as it turns out, given Toyota way too much leeway, with fatal consequences for American (and other) drivers.
