The answer to the Toyota recall, what would it be?

What do you think the answer to the Toyota recall should be, and can we do better? I think we should buy American, my beloved Saturn dealer out of business and they had the best cars on the road, I’ve owned 5 different Saturn’s, and still have my 08 Vue, and never, never had a problem with them, now that is a good vehicle when you never have problems.
Yes I’ve owned 5, the 96 I gave to my daughter and it’s still on the road running great at over 100,000 miles, bought a Vue, which I gave to another child and it’s still out their, bought the small Saturn used and was a great car but too small, now back with the Vue, also had a 92 Saturn that another daughter drove and she sold it and it’s still out their, no problems with these simply made vehicles, the just keep on ticking.

My sister had a nice Saturn.
For the record. When Daimler-Benz bought Chrysler, it was the most profitable car company at the time and they drove it into the ground. If they wouldn’t have given what was left to an American company a few months before the economy crashed, there never would have been any Chrysler to sell to Fiat.

Yet you owned 5? Is it you never had problems because you got rid of them so quick? A measure of a quality car is started more after 5 years to me. Any car can last 1 or 2 years, and if it can’t that is HORRIBLE and wouldn’t likely get in public. Yet Honda doesn’t go down in value the way American cars drop in value, and other then this recent disaster Toyota hadn’t been dropping in value the American cars do. Oh sure we could all run out and buy Fords, but really how else can you buy American anymore? Chrysler was part of a German company for YEARS, and then was split because Daimler wanted nothing to do with piss poor quality, and now it is owned by Fiat. Heck if you want to buy American tell me where you car is made. Believe it or not that Toyota was likely made here in the U.S. as well. That "Foreign" car was made in the U.S. As to what we REALLY should do is investigate what the problem was and fix it. I mean truly look in to it. Anyway I think this question was simply meant as a rant against foreign car companies.

I have never had a problem with my Toyotas. The gas pedal business is a bunch of media hype. I have no problem whatsoever with my Rav4. My Saturn SW1 was a piece of junk that blew the water pump at 80,000 miles, causing the head to warp and the engine to burn oil. After that, the timing chain (that’s right fellas, CHAIN), had to be replaced because Saturn was so freaking cheap they could’nt spend an extra 5 cents on a metal part. They had to make it out of plastic instead. So of course, with the heat from the engine and the oil, the plastic part disintegrated and the timing chain tensioner no longer functioned. After a while, the car was smoking so bad I had to give it to the Salvation Army. Not only that, but just take a tour of Edmunds.com to find out what the ratings are on Saturns – good luck with that one. No comparison vs. Toyota. Plus, Toyota has the ONLY car 100% manufactured in the USA.

the media is making this a storm on a glass of water. Toyota are still reliable vehicles. All vehicles have their flaws, but its all depending on the material and how much its spent to build these vehicles. Wish I can say the same about Dodge, Ford and Government Motors, but they’re not worth to have (in my opinion)

Well, looks like you can only speak for your Saturns because i guarantee you, I can go find a good amount of saturn owners that have experienced problems with theirs. I also can make the claim that if i go buy a saturn right now, i may experience problems later on, after normal use.
Its all probability and statistics. And, just because you may not have experienced any problems with yours, that doesnt mean its all Saturn vehicles never had any problems. Maybe you just didn’t get one of those bad apples. Also, its not as simple as you think it is.
