Heard on the news that the floors on Toyotas are designed in such a way that floor mats can make the accelerators stick. I have an ’09 Corolla — is my car one of the models affected by this safety defect?
Where do I find out WHICH Toyota cars are being recalled?

Would you buy a new Toyota Tacoma right now in the middle of all this recall madness?

Apparently I haven’t been watching the new lately because last night I purchased a 2010 Tacoma. I have to go in Saturday to finish the paperwork up. I just heard all this news today and am freaking out now. I know the tacoma isn’t part of the sticking gas pedal recall only the floor mat one (they fastened the floor mats to the ground so they don’t slide around and are no where near the gas pedal, personally I think they should have been that way in the first place). Anyways the mats are my worry. Even though the Tacoma is not included in this new recall, Toyota vehicles in general are scaring me. I have been doing a lot of research online but they are so dang vague. I do know that its somewhat of a wear and tear thing and that if there is a problem with the newer models they shouldn’t be affected for a while and by then can be replaced when they come up with a solution(apparently in april) What would you all do…back out of it on Saturday or keep it??
The tocoma fit what I needed its not a full size but has 4 doors and enough room inside for big car seats, the long bed for our desert toys, & I wanted a 4×4. I personally would have had no problem going with the nissan frontier but my husband didnt like it. I always thought Toyota had a good reliable rep. and theyre not the first car co. to have dangerous recalls. …I just cant shake this sick feeling in my stomach even with tylenol pms its taking me hours to fall asleep. Im worried they wont take it back.
Toyota Recall September 2009?

What is REAL conclusion with 2004-2009 Prius recall?

I want to buy the 2008 prius from the dealer and feel like they are giving me good APR, lowered the car more. But im concerned with the prius recall and feel confused and like there is no final conclusion to what the recall problem is?
Is it really the floor mats in 2004-2009?
The ABS system?
Human Error?
Should I buy it or Not?
I have looked through National Highway safety.org and found that 2004-09 is the floor mats. Im not sure if its finalized.
And where did you read about the conclusion on the Human Error? I’d Like to finalize my decision whether or not to buy it.
Why is Toyota so insistent their acceleration problems are mechanical rather than electronic?

Throughout the acceleration problem fiasco, Toyota has insisted the problem is a mechanical one involving the gas pedal. Simultaneously Toyota categorically denied the problem involves the electronic systems. It doesn’t appear they completely know the cause, but in public statements they have flatly eliminated electronics as the culprit.
I earned a BS in mechanical engineering and worked for about 10 years as a manufacturing / quality engineer. When tackling problems, we never eliminated possibilities until we considered everything until we found the root problem. Toyota seems to be doing the opposite: They’ve reflexively eliminated the electronics and are fishing around for cause among the remaining possibilities, however far-fetched (e.g. floor mats).
What’s going on? Is there a liability issue in play? For instance, does Toyota share the same electronics among many of its vehicles, meaning millions more are at risk than Toyota would like to admit? Is the problem so intermittent that it is difficult to reproduce? (If so, I’d think electronics are at least a factor.) Or is something else going on?
I agree with everything Randy wrote except the last thought. Which is better for the USA, a Camry assembled in Kentucky with 70-some% domestic parts or a Chrysler PT Cruiser assembled in Mexico with 30-some% domestic parts? I’m not saying you’re wrong — I’m saying it’s not as simple as it first seems.
