If your VIN begins with a "J", you should not be affected with this problem. However 2007-2010 Models are affected by this recall. Yes it is true. At my dealer we are told to never play games with the customer and tell them the straight out truth.

Yes, your car is part of the recall. Call your nearest Toyota dealer. They will fix the car for free…once they have the parts. Remember the fix was announced just this week and there are over 4 million cars to repair, plus the fix must be incorporated into every new Toyota with the problem parts. I fear it will be a long wait before the parts are available in large enough numbers to get all the cars fixed.

your car should be fine because the recall is only for the 2010 models

CALL DEALER
TELL THEM YOUR V.I.N.
They will inform you if your car is part of the campaign.

There is but a very SLIM chance you will experience a sticking go pedal, but if you do, simply shift the car into NEUTRAL (not park) and pull over to the side of the road and shut off the engine. Leaving the engine ON until you stop will keep the power steering working.
