poor acceleration?

i have a 2000 Toyota celica and it has a poor acceleration at first but pick up after a while what can i do and change on it im thinking about the spark plugs any suggestion thank you

Change the plugs, check the plug wires for cracking while swapping plugs, make sure and check the plug gap before you install the new ones, Also check out you air filter and change it if it has been a while since it was changed. Stop and get a can or two of injector cleaner and throw it in the tank the next time you fill up with gas. Doing these things should do away with your problem, probably improve your mileage greatly also.

Is it second hand? Check your catalytic converter. Its part of the exhaust, and with a 2000 model, chances are its clogged up (which prevents acceleration). Get a mechanic to check it out.

Fried/clogged catalytic converter?- the more pedal you give it, the worse pick-up it has ?
