You know, there’s a way to cure him from buying crap like that. Work on it for him. My stepson bought one of those dirtbag Chevy Nova/Toyota Corollas and puked the transmission in it. I offered to replace it for him, and in the process, I flew into such a rage over its incredibly stupid design, I couldn’t think of swear words bad enough to describe it. I threatened to bury it in the back yard for a place to throw dog turds. He eventually figured he should probably buy American and moved on to a Grand Am and now he has a Mustang.
If you keep hammering away at your son-in-law’s poor choice in vehicles and its lousy engineering, you can set him back on the right path.
Oh, and BlackBerry, it’s "CATALYTIC" converter. You’d think that a guy that works on cars might know that.
Toyota is not the best selling vehicle in the US. That honor goes to the Ford F-series pickup. You see, more people would rather buy a Ford truck with its better reliability and nicer styling than a Toyota Camry. OK. Now go stick your head back in the sand or wherever Toyota lovers stick their heads.

yes it is part of the recall do as the first answer recommends as for the second answer why is the toyota the best selling vehicle in the US?because the crap the american auto makers build will never outlast any import made yes they do have some problems now and then but the recalls the american makers have been much worse(ford pinto,f-150 exploding on impact, many wire fires, cruise controls not tuning off, jeeps having tie rod ends falling off just to name a few)i will buy only toyota and deal with the few recalls than to dive crap like a grand am and mustang

Excuse me, Blanders, but I work on Chevys, GMCs, Buicks, Cadillacs, Pontiacs, Fords, Lincolns, Mercurys, Saabs, Hummers, Dodge, Chryslers, and Jeeps. If its ever been American, Im certified by the brand to fix it. I must say, the number of transmissions I have to fix a month is rediculous. I actually had a woman come in who said her Pontica Gran Prix accellerated on its own, and when she tried to put it in neutral (something she had seen on the news bc of the toyota recalls), the trans got stuck. American cars are crap. My wife drives a 2011 Toyota Avalon, and I have a 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser. Stick with Toyota. One frame recall is nothing compared to the 56 that the 2000 Chevy Silverado had for faulty cam shafts and catylithic converters.
