Has anyone ever modified a prius for speed?

I’m sure it would take a LOT of welding and almost everything would have to be replaced to handle speed, but lets be honest: it would be the ultimate sleeper car. I don’t think you could fit a decent sized engine under the hood but you could fit a turbo, has anyone tried this? I can’t find anything online.
EDIT: You’d replace the electric motor, think of it more as building a fast car in a Prius frame.

Remember the Prius does not have a conventional transmission, and everything in the HSD drivetrain is computer-controlled, and modifications may also require you to hack the software to accomodate the mods.
And Nigel will have to wait a loooong time to buy a Prius needing an out-of-warranty battery replacement.. Battery failure in the Prius due to high mileage is virtually unheard-of– Plenty of Vancouver Prius taxis have exceeded 250,000 miles with no battery problems. And timewise, post-warranty battery failures for the 2nd-gen ain’t going to happen until after 2012.
(the warranty is good for up to 10 years in CARB states).
You might as well just weld on Prius body panels salvaged from crashed Prii onto another car with your engine/tranny of choice if you want a "sleeper." That would be the easiest way to do it.

Hi, I have been thinking of setting up increasingly niche site. However, not superior with techie factors. Is it very difficult to create a net? Would I unquestionably to commit time learning programming and coding?
