88′ toyota celica won’t start after engine light when on during commute home.?

On my way home today 10-22 the engine light when on and I lost power like I had a fouled plug it didn’t have the acceleration it should,I made it home turned off the car opened the hood to check if any loose wires or loose distributer cap everything thing looked good but when I went to start the car it would not start just turn over….Any Ideas????
the motor is a 2000cc fuel injected system

Amateurish suggestion:
Remove the air cleaner lid from the air filter above your carburetor and attempt to start the engine then, bypassing the filter. Look inside the carburetor and check with your finger if the butterfly valve sticks (this valve is the airflow regulator that works in combination with the fuel mixture). Of course, if the filter looks clogged, change that thing. i recommed going K&N because it has a 1 million-mile guarantee and only needs to be cleaned every 50,000 miles or so.
If the vehicle starts, then I recommend getting some carb cleaner and spraying it onto the butterfly valve for about a second on each side is all. The ultimate problem may mean that your carburetor may need to be rebuilt. For this, just do a quick parallel study on "great and awe-inspiring mysteries of the world".. Just kidding.
Also, if it works out in this scenario, change out the fuel filter while you’re at it.
