It usually hits 3,000ish RPM when I acclerate mid throttle from a stop but my friend who drives a 1999 Toyota Camry usually hits 4,000-5,000 RPMs on acceleration. So how high is best for the engine so I’m not being too aggressive or too soft on the car?

i own a new innova.its 1 year old and mileage is 15000 kms.all of a sudden it has started to emit thick, smelling black smoke,too evident on acceleration.tried by changing fuel filter besides cleaning the air filter.didnt help.is anything wrong with the catalytic converter??any suggestions?
