The toyota recall was released after the acclerator became stuck on many models causing 5 deaths. Now I know that you can turn a car off that is still in gear, is there something I’m missing or were these people just too freaked out to think about that?

They are all much higher on the list of reported sudden acceleration claims than Toyota.

By the way, last year I believe Toyota had 9 reported claims of sudden acceleration. In the past few weeks they’ve had a couple hundred. Mass hysteria, anyone? Opportunists looking to shake down Toyota, anyone?

Toyota paid the price in poor sales, which dropped 9% last month. As Anthony Mason reports, Toyota officials were back in the hot seat, facing Congress for the third time in a week.
